NEMO Heart Health Gents and Joules Gala

The Northeast Missouri Heart Health Corporation hosted their third annual Gents and Joules Heart Gala this Saturday.  The event is the main fundraiser for the organization.  In past years the money collected has been used to fund the purchase of the more than 60 AEDs now placed in the northeast Missouri area.  As the mission of the organization has been to improve the wellness of our community through prevention, education and access.  The placement of the AEDs has contributed to access aspect to their mission and this year the organization hopes to start working on heart disease prevention and heart health education.  Many of the funds raised at this year's Gala will be put into a new education fund especially for a new initiative targeted specifically at keep kids active and promoting healthy lifestyles at an early age.  Doesn't this sound like the coolest group ever?!  I am so excited to be working with NEMO Heart Health and I'm hoping to be able to use my expertise as a future Health Educator to assist with this new initiative as much as I can as well as bring what we are doing in the northeast Missouri area down to the central Missouri area as well!

I was invited to help present awards to the sponsors of Gala and NEMO Heart Health.  I could not be more proud of this organization and to be working with a group of people that works so tirelessly without payment for their efforts to improve the health of their community.  I cannot wait to see what else we will accomplish!
